In 1970 I started modeling as a ten year old enthusiast. The first ten years I only built airplanes and tanks, because at the time little else was offered on the modeling market, these were the classic subjects for the majority of modellers. However, the range of model kits gradually expanded, and as a professional soldier I saw more than enough aircraft and tanks, I thought the time was ripe to shift my horizons to civilian vehicles, especially cars and motorcycles. My interest stems from the passion for motorsport that I have felt since 1972. I then started following Formula 1 intensively because I found the black Lotus in the John Player Special colors so attractive. So it should come as no surprise that one of my first Formula 1 models I built was a 1:12 scale John Player Special - Lotus from Tamiya. Meanwhile, the counter is on about 500 built cars and motorcycles ... In this channel I try to show you how my models are created and how I try to improve them where possible...

Well, im not 100% certain why they used it, but i have some evidence pics showing the box in the actual race, so i can only guess they used it as some sort of counter weight...

同じ物を、先程完成させたばかりです。もう少し早く、この動画を見ていたら、もっと良い仕上がりに、なったと思いました。しかし、私にはとても、スポーク張りをする勇気は、有りません。このモデルの最大の問題は、エンジンフィンが、金型の問題なのか、ずれている事が残念でした。もう、このモデルがタミヤから発売されて何十年も経ちますし、当時のタミヤの技術では、これが最高だったとは、思いました。私は、このエンジンフィンを何とかならないか考えましたが、良く考えると、とても大変だと思い諦めました。とにかく、完成させる事を目標にしてやっと完成させました。その後、この動画を見ておりました。凄い仕事ですね。脱帽です。😃🍀
Could you tell me what is the reference of the metal spokes that you used?
I used 0.6mm metal wire, used by RC modelers to steer rc-servos.

Plastic. Except for the shock springs.
amazing build - how did you get the red-paint sheme so "glossy" or almost "metallic" is there a special grounding before or was this a standard tamiya color-code?
Not really no, I used Tamiya TS-08 Italian red from the spraycan for all the red parts.

I have just been given one of these for Christmas by my son, I used to own the exact model back in 1982, I used to race this in the national production championships in the uk, it was a tuned version, though tuning was illegal in competition races, it was an absolute projectile, had great fun hanging onto the thing around some of the faster circuits, it spat me off a few times too……

I got it for 300NZ 3 years ago...cheap. I got the 1/16 Harley with sidecar which is ultra rare and expensive for 112NZ 6 years ago from someone who didn't know. I'm building both. And then y 2 Pocher classic kits.

Just some extra thin vinyl tubing that i found at a modelling fair... i think its 0.3 mm wiring.
